The Varmint Shield is a round animal guard that installs with a hotstick that fits on any size insulator or bushing from 1.75” to 6”. 4 Styles. The Varmint Shield is a proactive approach to eliminating animal related electrical service interruptions on transformers, substation insulators, and bushings. The unique design permits the unit to be installed quickly with an insulated shotgun stick and without the need to drop service or expose a lineman to energized equipment during installation.

The Varmint Shield is a proactive approach to eliminating animal related electrical service interruptions on transformers, substation insulators, and bushings. The unique design permits the unit to be installed quickly with an insulated shotgun stick and without the need to drop service or expose a lineman to energized equipment during installation.
Installed in-between insulator sheds to prevent wildlife from simultaneously touching the live terminal and nearby metal work. Suitable for diameters of 45 mm to 152 mm. This animal guard works for all distribution systems and can address high voltage bushings and adjacent arrestor bushings.
